In April of 2001, French national team member Christian Processe and ICF trainingng Francois Beauchard visited the Nantahala Outdoor Center and conducted a trainingngg camp for development athletes and current U.S. Team members.

Processe spoke at length with U.S. K-1 team members Chris Hipgrave and Andrew McEwan regarding the French trainingngg plan for the upcoming year, characterized by a large volume of paddling time and more high-lactic workouts in the spring leading up to the Worlds.

This outline, compiled from Chris Hipgrave's rapid scribblings, may serve as a loose monthly plan for senior U.S. athletes trainingngg for the 2002 season. In the near future, Hipgrave will be creating a plan for Junior athletes and those new to the sport that better favors multiyear aerobic base development so critical to overall success for Wildwater racers.
