Thanks to USACK Wildwater Committee Treasurer Chris Hipgrave for submitting the link to this lengthy article on the
sport of whitewater racing. The online publication,
citizen-times.com, ran the February 19th article on both slalom and wildwater racing,
centered around the NRC's annual winter "Glacier Breaker"
race on the Nantahala River. It notes that even in adverse weather
conditions, athletes serious about making the team have to compete to stay in top form.
The article explains the difference between slalom and wildwater
racing, and includes some profiles of current and future team members.
