The Wildwater Committee has voted to adopt new bylaws governing our sport. The previous version of the bylaws had been in place for
twenty years and were no longer serviceable because of confusing amendments and missing procedures.
Some of the most important changes include:
- Rules for National Championships and Team Trials (both junior and senior) will be published every year at the beginning of the year to accommodate for changes in ICF rules and racing conditions in the United States. These changes will take effect for races held in 2016. New rules for 2016 Nationals will be published early next year, and new rules for selection of the 2017 US Wildwater Team will be published by March 31st of 2016.
- Elections for the Wildwater Committee Officers have changed. Now, a slate of candidates will be elected to the committee every two years and the elected officers will determine who fills each role on the committee. There will be an election this December held according to these rules.
