Congratulations to all of our senior wildwater team members who competed in the world cups and world championships this year!

At the sprint world championships in Vienna, our men’s K-1 team (Hugh Pritchard, Joe Potoczak, and Kurt Smithgall) placed 12th overall. In the heats of the individual competition, Hugh Pritchard was 52nd in the first heat and 43rd in the second heat. Joe Potoczak was 47th in the first heat and 41st in the second heat. Kurt Smithgall placed 44th in the first heat and 48th in the second heat, and had the fastest run of any US competitor on the day.

Our lone woman competitor, Marin Millar, raced K-1W at all world cup races and in the world championships. At the first world cup races at Bovec in Slovenia, she was 15th in the classic and 12th in the sprint final. At the world cup races in Murau, Austria, she placed 11th in the first heat of the sprint, and raced the semifinals, but did not qualify for the finals. In the last world cup race, she placed 8th in the classic!

At the world championships, Marin placed 21st in the first heat and 15th in the second heat, just missing the final by a few places.
