2013 Cedar River Wildwater Races

March 17, 2013

by Tom Wier

The 2013 Northwest Wildwater Cup series kicked off this weekend with the Cedar River sprint and classic races. The water level was up, so although there was wind and rain, the racing conditions were great.

Doug Ritchie took top honors in both sprint and classic, and posted a course record time for the classic course. He beat his own course record of 35:37 (set last year) by 12 seconds. In C-1, Tom Wier was second overall. In K-1 women, Marin Millar switched out of her Flash into a more stable boat, and won the sprint and classic over Jennie Goldberg.

The next race in the Cup series is the Pacific Northwest Wildwater Championships on April 13th.
