Early Information on Eastern and Western US Junior Team Trials Frebruary 26, 2013

The dates and locations have been set for this year’s Eastern and Western Junior US Wildwater Team Trials. Eastern Junior Team Trials: March 22-24 on the Nanthala River near Bryson City, NC. The team trials will be part of the US Open Whitewater Races. As in past years the event is being sponsored by the Nantahala Outdoor Center and the Nantahala Racing Club (www.nantahalaracingclub.com). Western Junior Team Trials: April 20-21 on the Colorado River in Glenwood Canyon near Glenwood Springs, CO. The team trials will be part of the Glenwood Wildwater Jubilee. As in past years the club sponsor is the Great Blue Heron Canoe & Kayak Club. The contact person is Denny Adams (dennyadams@aol.com). This year’s Junior World Championships for Wildwater is set to be held in Lofer, Austria in early July. Lofer is a highly regarded and very scenic venue with a great wildwater river. Juniors seeking a position on this year’s US Junior Wildwater Team are eligible to try out for the team at either or both of the two Jr. Team Trials. As in past years the rivers will be open for training in the days before the races. Likewise as in the past, racers from other age classes will be able to race at these events.
