March 19, 2010 -- Snohomish, WA The 2010 Cedar River Races were held March 13th just south of Seattle. While winter has been very dry, and the river is at it's minimum flow of 390 cfs, we had a record number of participants in the sprint races. We had only two wildwater boats, but 23 total racers. For next year, we hope to have a few more paddlers in faster boats. Overall the fastest sprint runs were both by Tom Wier, who completed the course in 72 and 74 seconds. Second was Jennie Goldberg, our other wildwater paddler, at 82 and 84 seconds, 13.6% back. The classic was long and shallow due to the low water, which discouraged participation. Three boats headed downriver. Tom Wier again won, with a time of 39:05. Jennie Goldberg was second with a time of 42:25. Steve Andrews, paddling a plastic boat, finished in 54:21 after a long and hard effort.
