The League of Northwest Whitewater Racers is proud to host the 2010 Wildwater National Championships on the Skagit River in Washington State. The races will be held on July 31st and August 1st in the North Cascades National Park complex.

The Skagit River runs off of the Western side of the Cascade Mountains and through a beautiful canyon on its way to Puget Sound. The river is dam controlled, and water is released year round to produce electricity, so practice is unlimited. The sprint course will be 2 to 3 minutes long, through the S-Bends, a class III section of whitewater where the river narrows in a small canyon. The classic course will be 20-25 minutes long, and end at the bottom of the S-Bends. Both courses are very boat friendly, and boat damage is rare.

We have done our best to accommodate travelers from other parts of the country. A large group campsite has been reserved at the put-in, and anyone interested can reserve a spot. We have negotiated to have Seattle City Light open its cabins near the put-in for low cost group housing, and there are hotels twelve miles away.

We have located K-1s, C-1s, and C-2s that are now available for borrowing, so many paddlers will not have to transport boats.
