USA Wildwater is proud to be distributing $2500 in Performance Funding to our 2009 top producing athletes in international competition. This is a great program that rewards those athletes that work hard so that they race well in international competition.

Tom Wier is this years top winner with $1100 and 44% of the total performance pie. Tom consistently places in the top ten in the world and this year is no exception. Tom placed 6th overall in the 2009 World Cups and finished between 5-9% back in all 6 World Cup races. We are proud to award Tom with $1100 in celebration of his success. We are also excited about Tom's prospects at the 2010 World Championships.

Perhaps the best thing about this years Performance Funding winners is that for the first time every, our Juniors won more than half of the funding. Newcomer (to international Wildwater racing) Tyler Hinton did very well at the Junior Worlds this year. Tyler won performance funding in both the Sprint and the Classic races. We are excited about Tyler's development and look forward watching his progress on to the Senior Team.

Peter Lutter was our top finisher (in terms of % back off the winner) in International Competition for 2009. His efforts at the Junior Worlds really paid off. Peter finished 5.1% off the winner in the Classic and was a blazing 3.1% off the winner in the Sprint. Peter finished 9th in the Sprint which ranks as one of our best ever individual K-1 finishes at a World Championship. We are proud to award Peter $1000 for his accomplishments.

Please join me in congratulating Tom, Tyler, and Peter on their accomplishments. Please also continue to encourage other racers to train hard and follow in their footsteps. You can do it too!
