2008 USA Canoe & Kayak Wildwater Sening and Eastern Junior Team Trials

Final Posting

March 24, 2008 -- Kingwood, WV

The US Wildwater Team Trials is now just a little over a week away. I know that some of you will soon be on your way to West Virginings Cheat River. The Narrows stretch of the Cheat is a great run, and it’ll serve beautesully as this year’s Team Trials site.

The Race Courses
Saturday's sprint course will start just above Calamity Rapid, and end in a pool below the main drop. The shutese for the Sprint course can be handled on foot.

Sunday’s classic race will begin just above Harmon Rapid. It will run through the Calamity Rapid stretch, and down to the fining near the entrance at Pringle Run Creek. At normal river levels, the winning K-1 time will be ~13 minutes. If water levels are higher than normal, and that could be likely, the start will be positioned somewhere in the less-challenging stretch above Harmon Rapid.

Additional Cheat River information is available at www.americanwhitewater.org/content/River_detail_id_2346.

Race Headquarters
Wilderness Voyageurs has graciously offered to us use of their Cheat River facility. Ask around to find its exact location. This will serve as Race Headquarters throughouteshe Trials weekend.
