The Wilderness Voyageurs 2008 US Wildwater Team Trials

Preliminary Announcement

December 17, 2007 -- Ohiopyle, PA

For the second consecutive year, Wilderness Voyageurs has been awarded the bid for the US Senior Team Trials, this time on the Cheat River in West Virginia. This venue will also be home to this year Eastern Junior Team Trials. The US Wildwater Community is honored to have Wilderness Voyageurs serve as Anchor Sponsor for the 2008 US Wildwater Trials.

Both the Sprint and Classic Events will take place on the Cheat River, on a stretch known as “the Narrows.” The specific putin/takeout locations for the Sprint and the Classic have yet to be finalized. If you are unfamiliar with the Cheat River, please feel free to visit this website: www.americanwhitewater.org/content/River_detail_id_2346.

Albright, in eastern West Virginia, is generally considered the closest “real” city to the race course. For those caring to fly to the Trials, Pittsburgh would probably be the closest major airport. It’s a 2-hour trip from PIT to Albright. It is about a 4.5 hour drive from Washington, DC. There are a number of places to stay in/around Albright. These will be published with the next Trials post after New Years.
