April 15, 2007 -- Ohiopyle, PA
The rain came to the Yough watershed last night and the gauge below Ohiopyle Falls was
reading a bit over 5 feet this morning, so the race organizers opted for Plan B (moving the
Classic race was moved to the Middle Yough).
Meanwhile, the tent at the finish line had to be moved to higher ground -- it would have been about
a foot under water by the end of the race. When I checked the USGS gauge at Ohiopyole at 1:30 pm, it
was 8.73 feet!!
Congratulations to all of the athletes who competed under less than ideal weather and water
conditions. And a big thanks to Wilderness Voyagers for hosting the event and to all of the
volunteers who help make the event a success.
