March 26, 2007 -- Charlotte, NC
This is a "Must Attend" Training Camp for Juniors in the Area Planning on Racing at the 2007 Worlds and for
anyone that would like to improve their whitwater skills in a controlled enviroment.
We are rescheduling the Chute The Channel Training Camp for May 19-20. The training camp will be held in the Wilderness
Channel of US National Whitewater Center (USNWC) in Charlotte -- where the Sprint Races of the 2007 Junior Worlds will be
held in July.
We STRONGLY encourage all paddlers who are a part of the 2007 Jr Worlds and anyone wishing to improve thier whitewater
skills on an artificial course to attend. I'm confident that the USNWC will be home to many important races in the future.
My personal experience is the whitewater course is difficult (especially in the tippier wildwater designs), although
it can be run cleanly in a wildwater boat. Racers who are not comfortable on Class III+ whitwater are still encouraged to
attend but may choose to paddle a plastic or slalom boat during the training sessions in order to develop a feel for the
Wilderness Channel.
All attendees must be able to self rescue on class III+ whitewater.
COST:
Like all USA Wildwater training camps, there are no fees for the camp, only the requirement that participants are USACK
members. Please contact www.USACK.org should you need to join USACK. The cost for a full day pass at the USNWC is $25
(see www.usnwc.org for more information). USA Wildwater plans to subsidize food, etc.
ACCOMMODATIONS:
Some home stays are available (please RSVP) and there are many low cost hotels nearby.
