February 7, 2006
-- Charlotte, NC
Today the International Canoe Federation announced that the 2006 Wildwater World Championships will
be held in Karlovy Vary, Czech in light of the cancelled event in Bala, Wales. Details of the event
have yet to be announced. The Czech Federation has assured USA Wildwater that the event will also
include masters events in a similar style to last years Bala event.
From the February ICF newsletter ... "Despite the fact that ICF is aware of the inappropriate level
of the proposed course for such a competition and because of the danger of having no World
Championships at all due to the cancellation of Great Britain, the ICF Board has decided, as an
exception and only for this year, to accept the application of the Czech Canoe Union to host the
Wildwater Racing World Championships 2006 in Karlovy Vary from June, 14th to 18th 2006."
