Dear Wildwater Racers and Friends:

The next Wildwater race for 2009, the NRC Glacier Breaker on March 1st, is fast approaching. The long range weather forecast is calling for sunny skies and a high temperature of 51 degrees. Perfect racing weather. Check out our first article to learn how you can participate in this event. Let John Pinyerd know if you need to borrow a Speeder or Wavehopper and he will work with Casey Jones to see what they can do. Atlanta area racers, let John know your schedules and you can set up carpools. John is also willing to go up Saturday if there is a group that wants to do training runs. John can be reached at jpinyerd@cs.com or by phone at 770-575-1433 (work) or 678-357-7843 (cell).

For those races in the Pacific Northwest, the League of Northwest Whitewater Races has information about the Rich Weiss Cup, scheduled for March 21-22 on the Chilliwack River in Chilliwack, B.C. (See www.nwwhitewater.org/ for more about that event.)

While you are at it, check out the Wildwater Calendar for this year at www.usawildwater.com/races/2009RaceSchedule.pdf to learn about more races, including the 2009 US Wildwater Team Trials.

The Wildwater Committee (WWC) worked hard to expand USA Wildwater's corporate sponsorship programs. The WWC is proud to announce our new national partnerships with KEEN, Clif Bar, Immersion Research, Sports Star Pro Sales, Old Dominion Freight Lines, and Nantahela Racing Club. You will find their logos in the right-hand column on our home page. Click on a logo and you will go to the website for that sponsor. A special thanks goes to Jeremy Rogers, USA Wildwater Board Member and Sponsor Liason for leading this huge piece of work.

This leads right into the newest section of the USAWildwater.com website. This section is devoted to the athletes on the USA Wildwater Team. It's easy to find this section - just click on "Athletes" on the menu at the top of almost any web page on our site. From there you can learn more about each team member who has provided a "bio" by clicking on the photo or name of the athlete. The "Athletes" page also includes a link to a protected directory where USA Wildwater Team members can find out more about special benefits available only to the USA Wildwater Team. Team members who have not yet submitted a bio and photos are encouraged to do so. Send your bio in a Word file and your photos in JPEG format to me (Click here to send an email).

Train hard, compete in the 2009 USA Wildwater Team Trials, and you can earn a place on the 2009 USAWildwater Team.
