Dear Wildwater Racers and Friends:

The final race in the Mid-Atlantic Downriver Series (MADS) will be this weekend on Tohickon Creek. See the first article in this newsletter for more information.

Also fast approaching is the deadline for bids to host the 2009 Eastern Junior Team Trials and Western Junior Team Trials. The second article has all the details necessary to submit a bid.

In other news, the USACK Wildwater Committee met on October 6th; Old Dominion Freight Line (ODFL) signed on to be the Official Transportation Company of the USA Canoe/Kayak Team (USACK) for 2008-2009; and we have two articles about the 40th Annual Southeastern U.S. Whitewater Championships that were held on October 4-5 on the Nantahala River in western North Carolina.

Finally, you may or may not have noticed that our website has moved to a new hosting server. If you didn't notice, that's good because it means that the move was transparent to you. We made the move to take advantage of several features that are available on the new server. One key feature is the ability to send this newsletter from our own server. Thanks to the West Virginia Wildwater Association for allowing us to send our newsletter from their server in the past. And thanks to ArielMIS for hosting our website for the past several years.
