Dear Wildwater Racers and Friends:

The last scheduled wildwater race for 2006 was also the first wildwater race to be held at the U.S. National Whitewater Center (USNWC) in Charlotte, NC. This was the first chance for our juniors to experience race conditions at the venue where the Junior Wildwater World Championships will be held in mid-July, 2007. Check out the article in this E-zine for the results of that race. The article also contains links to some great photos and an awesome video from the race.

The next wildwater event at USNWC will be the "Chute the Channel" training camp on February 10-11. This is a "Must Attend" Training Camp for Juniors in the Area Planning on Racing at the 2007 Worlds.

You can also learn more about the Winter and Spring Training Camps and Races being organized by the Nantahala Racing Club.

In other news, there are some mid-term changes to the Wildwater Committee (WWC) of the USCKT. These changes were precipitated by the resignation of Chris Hipgrave. Chris has served on the WWC for the better part of a decade and has been a major force behind the growth of our sport over the past few years. We look forward to his continued participation in Wildwater racing.

Last, but not least, we want to thank Old Dominion Freight Lines for signing up to be the official Transportation Company of USA Wildwater and the USA Canoe/Kayak Team (USACK) for 2007. ODFL is quick to recognize that they are doing much more than hauling our race boats, they are transporting our hopes and dreams too! In the post 9/11 era when flying with a boat is very difficult, Old Dominion is a "God send" for getting our boats to events like training camps, Nationals, and Team Trials!

Here's wishing you a Happy Holidays and a great Wildwater New Year...
