Dear Wildwater Racers and Friends:

I am sitting here with U.S. Team Member Chris Hipgrave as we are both about to embark on a three-week training jaunt to France, including their National Training Centers in Rennes, Poitiers and Lyon. We are really excited to learn how France's athletes train so we can come back and provide a report for our next issue.

This winter edition of USAWildwater.com includes exciting announcements for two major wildwater race series from the Northwest League of Whitewater Racers and the Mid-Atlantic Downriver Series. Also included is anarticle from Wildwater stalwart Brent Reitz of California, who demystifies the kayak forward stroke for Wildwater racers.

In the meantime, I hope all of you are having a great winter training and are enjoying your aerobic interval training and heavier weights. Stay aerobic and eat plenty of protein!

Happy training,

Michael Beavers
